From Information Databanks - Force Elite Soldiers
Encased in Phrik based armor, the Burning Legion are the feared “cyborg infantry” of the New Galactic Empire. Used on board newly created ships of war as well as directly conquering worlds, the Burning Legion are without feeling, remorse or even pain. Until Viceroy Affinity approves a full scale engagement Imperial military officials use such forces sparingly and keep many in special bunkers equipped to handle the new bio-tech units.
Not much is known publicly about the soldiers. Locals as well as Coalition of the New Order soldiers regularly tell tails of the existence of the new soldiers although no one has ever seen such a soldier... and stayed around to tell about it.

The Burning Legion
Created from the prisoners from captured worlds, each soldier undergoes a painful transformation process using Yuuzhan Vong shapers and Imperial technicians using coral, metal, technical gadgets and brain ‘reprogramming’ to create the standard infantry soldier. Each Burning Legion soldier has a high-impact aloe armored shell using Vong coral and metallic components made from a secret combination of Phrik, night and heat censored vision, a regular Z-6 repeater multi-purpose impact carbine, grenades and a standard laser combat knife. It is rumored the Burning Legion may carry ballistic weapons as well.
There are only rumors of their numbers; some stating around 100 million units while the Coalition denies their existence completely. Reality is there are over 40 million prisoners unaccounted for and the many hidden training and ‘cleansing’ facilities are always busy.
History of the Burning Legion
The Need of a Super Soldier
With the displacement of Imperial soldiers during the Great War with the Coalition over 200 years after the Battle of Endor, military commanders realized they were at a huge disadvantage. The Coalition had built great ships of war, powerful military vehicles and walkers and well trained soldiers incased in heavy body armor and recruited from the many planets of its reign. The Empire however lacked such personnel with most of the Unknown Regions inhabitants not willing to fight a war they were previously unaffected by.
Enlisting Vong Support
To solve this short coming, a small group of Imperial commanders did the unthinkable; they enlisted the help of the few allied Yuuzhan Vong shapers and war chiefs that had joined Shadow Lord Kaardoon’s cause during the Great War. One of these Yuuzhan Vong shapers was Praetor Varslaw and former Vong war chief Culdan. Culdan suggested that a human body could be modified using Vong bio-forming technology, enhancing the tissues and strengthen muscles to unimaginable levels while eliminating pain and feeling from the specimen.
Creation and Problems
Testing began in 257 ABY where several volunteer soldiers participated in the transformation using Vong escalation practices. Each specimen had flex coral creations grafted to their bones, their stomachs, intestines and other organs replaced with Vong bio-formed creations. Pain censors, nose and parts of the mouth were replaced with technical gadgets and wired into the victim’s brain. Anything and everything that didn’t have a purpose for the soldier template was discarded. The process was daunting and extremely painful to the participants, and while the merger of Vong and Imperial technology with flesh worked, the victim’s minds were left scared and broken, making them virtually brain dead after the entire ordeal. Calling this failure, the project was put on hold for several years under the Shadow Lord who replaced the project with a standard recruitment Soldier.
Refinement of the Project
Fifteen years later, an Imperial Colonel discovered files on the project while researching a way to enhance combat soldiers to match the efficiency and mass of the Alliance military force. Surface Marshal Ashar decided that the projects major flaw wasn’t that technology, but the minds of the soldiers being allowed to stay conscious through the ordeal. Instead of wasting valuable soldiers and with the help of Moff Rafran Matok, he restarted the Burning Legion program with prisoners from Imperial detention facilities. After each victim was surgically altered, they went through over ten hours of neural stimulation using brain washing interrogation techniques. The process was complete with weapons and military training being programmed into the cleansed minds and with the help of Vong shapers and Imperial arm dealers, a new aloe military armor. The first Burning Legion soldiers were created.
