Admiralty Guard wearing a new storyteller Royal Guard costume Grand Admiral Topheth will not be retiring from the Black Sword Fleet. The Navy Command Staff made the important announcement during the Triumph of the Empire yesterday with much of the Fleet's military personnel in attendance. The annual show of force was especially large this year, complete with a parade, prizes and in-game events, with much of the attention surrounding Grand Admiral Topheth's possible retirement. Last week rumors had surfaced that the Commander of the Fleet was pondering his retirement after resigning from the Vast Empire fan fiction club on Sunday.
Sector Admiral ReJind, the Fleet executive officer, made several important announcements. "I'm fine with continuing," ReJind quoted from Topheth's debriefing with Force Elite Soldier's Viceroy Ho0ber, "I do not have a ton of spare time." It was welcome news to the Fleet which had been suffering from a morale drop since the rumors had surfaced.
Members in formation line up and salute Additionally ReJind bestowed the Fleet's highest award, the Imperial Cross, to Admirals Arias, Tehmok and Reaper. Arias was also given the promotion of Fleet Admiral. Later in the day, High Admiral Tehmok announced he will be stepping down as Tactical Officer, instead becoming Attache to the Fleet Commander as well as Commander of the coveted Nimitz Prime battle group. Arias will also be taking over as Tactical Officer on the Navy Command Staff. "I am pleased and grateful of this new assignment," the newly promoted TAC stated during the ceremony, "Being on the Command Staff was something I've always wanted to do with the Fleet and I promise that I will not fail in my duties."
This year's Triumph o the Empire was one of its biggest. Held outside the secretive capital city of Civitas on Talus. One hundred and ninety two members of the Fleet's space and ground armed forces participated in the ceremonial line up, saluting the presenters as they strolled down the middle. Up to eighty more participated in gaming events such as races, cantina raffles and a Mandalorian-inspired dueling tournament in a "Circle of Honor." Most of the attendees took place in organized parades through major population centers and battlefields after the conclusion of the Command Briefings. Thirty eight members of the Fleet were given awards in-game and twenty others saw promotions and position changes, although Admiral Reaper, Fleet Operations Officer, stated that the changes will not appear on our web site for another day or so. However, their duties will begin immediately.
Statue honoring Topheth's rule of the Fleet Hosting the event this year was Commander Cerchia of the Entertainer's Union. After a quick speech by Cerchia, Admiral ReJind made the announcement about Grand Admirals Topheth continued active duty with the Fleet and followed by messages from all the major subgroup commanders. Most notably, Colonel Rommel of the Stormtrooper Corps was bestowed a new rank of General, Colonel Stryker was officially announced as a recipient of the prestigious Imperial Cross, and of course Admiral Arias' promotion to Tactical Officer. There were also hints of major expanding changes within the Fleet's command staff but assistants to the NCS would not comment at this time. Also in attendance were Directors Mishia and Kilpulyr, who called for unit within the Fleet and publicly embraced Arias' new promotion to Fleet Admiral and Commander Cerchia's promotion to a Director.
As the event came to a close everyone was excited about the future of the Fleet and proud that despite difficulties the Fleet is still a powerful community. The Black Sword will continue to rally as one united Fleet with the backing of its respected founder, and the powerful ideals he has laid out that bind it together.
