A woman has died after being hit by a flying mower blade while she walked to work, it has been reported.
The Townsville Bulletin has reported the woman was walking along Eyre Street, in the Townsville suburb of North Ward, on Wednesday morning when she was struck in the head by a flying mower blade and killed instantly.
Police told AAP officers received a report around 8.15am (AEST) that a woman's body was found on the footpath in Eyre Street near the Liquorland store.
A police media spokesman said there was a tractor slasher nearby but investigations were continuing.
"We are in the very early stage of investigations," the spokesman said.
