Jun 19, 2010 | Black Sword Fleet | By Reaper
With a tremendous amount of organizing changes, subgroup updates and commander position shifts, the Fleet has gained a fresh view over the last few months on our operations and efficiency. Changing up the old guard is important every so often.

Galactic Civil War

To start we'll focus on General Rommel's favorite portion, the Galactic Civil War. Overall, yes we are losing the war, at least as Imperials on a global-server level. Server wise we aren't doing too bad. It's no secret that Imperials are struggling on Starsider as of late, however Chilastra with its 'over-saturated' PvP base as of late has been losing ground to the Rebellion if only in GCW scoring (direct PvP wise the Imperials are still dominant). Bria and Chimaera are still the dominant Imperial sided servers, with Bria Imperials controlling 51% of the scoring, and Chimaera with 63% though Talus has come under heavy pressure after the destruction of several Storm Corps bases this week and a heavy month of PvP in defense of Imperial cities.

The maps below provided details on Imperial and Rebel controlled territory on each server with Fleet connections.

Our activity seems to be cyclic: find a game, play it a lot, go inactive. Whenever I lead I always find it hard to be the idea man, focusing more on making things work. Maybe I was too involved with TF2, maybe no one else had the level of dedication we needed to be a successful clan, maybe we didn't have a solid theme. I can spend more time rambling about the past in later posts, but for now it's time to move on.

Our next game of interest will be The Force Unleashed 2, in the hopes that not only will it have multiplayer but it will be good. Our attitude about the game will reflect the DJO days-- our primary mission is to have a casual server where people can hang out and have fun. If competition exists, whoever wishes to compete must seek my permission to form a SFOD platoon.

As for other games outside the Star Wars universe, I have no problem with forming new expedition companies if the buzz is good. We'll just need a level of dedication that we seem to lose after a few months.

For now here is the plan:
June-October 2010: Rally the old DJO/REC members who may be interested in playing TFU2play any demos that are released to verify this the game to playhave Training Guides made that discuss how to run a server, a FTP client, etc. to ...

It's about time that I post some new updates on the way. Slow and steady progress has been made on updating our website to the latest standards. While most of these changes aren't live yet, we hope by the end of the month to convert a good portion of the site over to pure css. This will increase speed and efficiency, as well as help make the site mobile compatible.

Many features have been requested over the last few months and the number one fix we will be doing will be a roster overhaul. We want to allow easier access to user data on the roster, instead of having to click through 3-4 pages of content. This will come with a new "multi-edit" ability on the admin portion of the site so officers can change, promote, etc multiple people at the same time to speed up the process. We'd like this to eventually include credit bonuses, awards and other features on the site.

The game stats system will also be getting some love with changes for Bad Company 2. This also includes our server stats system which currently can't support the game. Don't worry, we'll get it working sooner rather then later.

Thats all for me, thanks for the patience in seeing requested changes come around.

The Remnant Corps continues to march on with not much new news to report. We are still playing TF2 competitively and waiting for our Battlefield Heroes server to come off pre-order. There are a few things of note:

Trying to reconcile steam activity and FES activity

While using steam keeps our members in touch, it also has the effect of people not using other forms of communication. This keeps REC activity levels artificially low. I will keep working to keep our new recruits signed up to the forums and our members periodically checking IRC.

Officer Training

One fault of mine this summer was not teaching new officers how to use their admin powers on the forums. As a result, several new recruits have not signed up on the forums and I have had to perform roster maintenance that was long overdue/still needs doing.  Liquid and Hydro have been doing a fine job, and will teach them in my free time at some point by the end of the year.

New York TF2 server to lapse

After feedback from several members, the New York TF2 server will be discontinued at the beginning of October. No one has been using it and the server had not been updated in months. Any legitimate appeals should be directed towards ISB or Ho0ber.

Sep 20, 2009 | Black Sword Fleet | By Kaedryl

Greetings,

For those who aren't accustomed to the Black Sword or are new around here I am Vice-Admiral Kaedryl, commander of the Imperial Fighter Corps, the largest group within the Black Sword conglomerate in Star Wars Galaxies. Today's update for the Black Sword will be brief but it will consider some new changes coming to our fleet operations and membership.

Activity Clean Up

Much of our operations are consentrated in-game and this has resulted in significant inactivity on the FES web site. Plas are in place to change this. First we will be doing an actvity clean up and reoganising of our Fleet roster here. Over the next few weeks we will be going over every active person in-game and cleaning out anyone inactive and marking those on-leave appropriately. This will begin Monday and continue from there.

Fleet Web Site

The Fleet web site has been good to use but as mentioned before in a meeting briefing that we will be changing our web site. We will no longer have an all-flash site so that way its much easier to update our content and keep our members on the same page. This is really handy as SWG has an in-game web browser and with all our testing we have found our test navy site works great in-game. So to that end we plan on a significant update with events, maps and so forth as well ...

Another Army report from me to the folks fighting it out in the battlefield.

So this week we've been seeing some things on the technical end. The site for the Army has been moved to the new server. The main FES site is still being moved as I type this. Seems on the tech level everything is working smoothly there and we should see more on this from Havoc as he completes his work. Nice to see Army active on the forums lately at the temperary site.

Everyone who plays Battlefield 2142, is an active member and is a competitant member has been approved stat wise. If you submitted stats and didn't give me garbage you'll see them in your profile. Those who didn't properly submit their stats even after I've talked to you 4-5 times about it, I simply delete you. No retirement, no fancy guest stuff, you are gone. I don't deal with stupid people.

Roster cleanup happened last week for a period of days. I removed 37 inactive and/or incompetent people. I have stripped some double division holders from Army leadership who no longer play games with the Army. If you still plan on playing Army games in the future then let me know in a private message. This has given us 109 active members with full game stats so we can all review our progress, as well as 12 officially retired members that mostly include people who I deemed worthy of having this status eit...

Hello again to another command update from the Shadow Army division. Several changes will be made to the Shadow Army over the course of this week.

1) First, we are cutting some fat. If you don't play an active Army game you are retired, simple as that. This week the required stats submissions will be logged. Most of you have submitted stats relatively quickly, a few of you have not. You have a few days to do that or you can contact your superiors if there is a technical glitch.

2) Second, Vanquish company will be closed and done away with. There are several reasos for this. a) Its the most inactive of the three companies and it doesn't have as many members as the others. b) Its squads all don't play BF2142 or plan on playing RF3. c) I don't like its former commander so the company is tarnished in my book. All of these are enough to warrant its closure. I know some of you are PO'd at me for it but thats my decision and its happening. Active members from these squads will be moved to other squads. Death Knights will stay intact and I'll be moving you to one of the other platoons. More details later this week after stats are tallied up. Colonel Jolinar will be given a new position for her qualifications. She's done a great job leading the company even if the company needs to close.

Most of you know that we have the option to add our BF2142 gaming stats to our profile on our website. But for those who dont here is an step for step instruction how you can do this:

1.) First create an account on http://www.2142-stats.com/ Link your BF2142 soldier to your account so that it keeps it constantly updated.

2.) After you have done this go to our website and click under "MyFES" on "Account Summary"

3.) Once there click on "Submit Gaming Stats"

4.) Since we want to link our newly created http://www.2142-stats.com/ account with our gaming stats we click next on "Add a game stats site"

5.) Next step ;) Once here you have to select under "The Game" of course Battlefield 2142. Now you will notice that the "Link To Website" Box is still greyed out.. You have to FIRST add your Total Score, Kills and Deaths to make this Box available....

I've told most members of the REC about the change that will occur tomorrow, but now I officially go public with the news. I am heading out to medical school in Grenada, West Indies. Disregarding the potentially low bandwidth and high ping that can come with being in the Caribbean, I will be intensely studying from now until May 2011. Therefore, I am shifting my leadership style from a proactive leader to a more figurehead role over the next two years. LiquidDeath is ordered to look over the Team Fortress 2 operations and Ho0ber is ordered to look over the Battlefield Heroes operations. I trust both men completely and know they will do well. As for me, I will still be around, checking the forums and IRC when I can, I will still have Winter and Summer breaks and will attempt to get online if needed. Thanks to everyone for the past two years.
