Connecting Using an IRC Client »
Some members enjoy using an outside program to connect to an IRC server. The following information will help you connect to our server through a client program. For experienced users, the info you'll need to connect is below this text. If you don't understand how IRC works or are new at IRC please skip this section and continue to 'Clients'.
  • Server: irc.fesgaming.com
  • Channel: #FES
  • Port: 6667

« Downloading an IRC Client Program

To connect into our IRC server you will need an IRC client or program in order to connect and chat with other people. Select a program to download below...
« IRC Chatting Basics

Once you connect to IRC you'll need to find some channels and know a bit of information about how it works so you can talk freely and not worry about if you are doing something wrong.

The IRC Server

Once in the program, all you have to do is type, in the window named 'Status,' /server . AOL users need to specify the port as 6669 (i.e. /server irc.fesgaming.com 6669). Below is the server FES uses:
  • irc.fesgaming.com

Once you are connected to a server, you will need to connect to the channel. First type in the 'Status' window again, /join #FES.

The IRC Channels

General Channels...
#FES - Main FES Channel
#army - Main Shadow Army Channel
#navy - Main Black Sword Channel
#remnantcorps - Main Remnant Corps Channel
#corporate - Main Corporate Universal Channel

Additional Channels...
#officerslounge Officers Channel for Officers Only (Non Officers May Be Auto Banned Here)
#vast_empire - Our Allies, the Vast Empire

« IRC Basic Chatting Commands

With most windows IRC clients an extensive help file is included. Dont hesitate to try the /help command.

IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL IRC COMMANDS START WITH A / (slash).

The forward slash is the default command character. Commands on IRC are not case sensitive, and can be abbreviated to their first letters. Anything that does not begin with / is assumed to be a message to someone and will be sent to your current channel, or to a person you are chatting with in a private chat (see below).

/nickserv register password - replace 'password' with the password you would like. This feature makes you name private and no one can use it except you.

/nickserv identify password - replace 'password' with your password you have chosen when you registered. This command logs you in and should be done everytime you access the FES Channel.

/help - Shows general help or help on the given command

/help command - Replace 'command' with a command name. This shows general help or help on the given command. This will have the entire list of commands at your diposal. You can also click the help link in the menu bar, depending on the program you choose.
